Another reprised poem from the past year of this blog
A Red Sky
a red sky dripping
oozing blood
backdrop of
society
civilization
progressive pretense
crusted and
smothered in
disease ash
blackish grayish
poverty death
destroying every
natural thing it
touches
vaunted techno-
progress dealing
death efficiently
profoundly
inexorably
Earth’s progeny
feed – decline
cloth – decline
house – decline
we’ve chosen a
sixth major extinction
for greed’s sake
for profit
for ‘progress’
humanity but a virus
blight on Terrafirma
which will remain
once we’re all
gone – justice
no more nor
less than we
deserve
maybe turn it
around I suppose
but hope is slim
extinction
imminent
by nature or
our techno-genocide
ecocide
suicide
nuclear
biologic
climatic

Unfortunately, I sense it bearing down on us. Those lines are my cynical cutting edge, hopefully filleting our excuses…; -)
