Gone Blowsy Already

a third of the Brittlebush has
gone blowsy already
and April’s not even done

their yellow petals wind-plucked
like she loves me, loves me nots
fuzzy brown heads bob

gray-green pincushions
pinioned with plethoras
of frizzy-headed straight pins
