Dog-walking Archer Lake Tucson
heron stands sentinel like a statue
on a half submerged rock in the shallows
close to the shoreline
while grackles forage those same shallows
and hang out in nearby trees with
raucous cries and tomfoolery
while a few ducks waddle the deserted beach
and glide through the water nearby
ready for a handout by any passersby
Archer Lake reflects the sky and trees
the mountains and shoreline reeds while
the dog sniffs scents, seeking a little privacy
