Vaguely Remembered Dream

Wandering unfamiliar hallways and landscapes
Seems like I should know them, but I don’t.

Landmarks seem familiar, yet not.
Can’t quite place them, lost in thought.

I reach for a rusty doorknob, but the door’s not there,
As I climb aged and broken stairs to …

Wait, now they’re tumbled down stone steps
In ancient ruins to where?

Seems like nowhere, or back to the beginning,
An Escher stair, caught in a dream-loop.

The feeling finally settles in, deep beneath my skin,
Bubbling up in my unconscious mind,

I’m lost…
