Morning in the dog days
Of summer
White brush stroke
Feathered clouds
Marble the summertime
Blue overhead

Southern mountains
Hidden in the
Morning mists
No breezes
This morning
The dusty-dry
Persists

Only a few
Fauna out
And about
A Prairie dog pup
A couple of
Roadrunners
Dancing about
A bird of prey
Swooped low
Before us and
Vanished into
The riverbed

A short one today
Home before
Sol could crack
My already well
Done skin

Tomorrow, a new
Month begins
