Youthful Indiscretions – 1977 – Memoir Memories
Depressed after divorce
Used to ride my
Chopped Honda
Down a snake-curvy
Road north
Midway into that drive
Was a RR crossing
About twelve feet wide
Road ramped to it
On either side
About 45 degrees
And maybe four
Feet high
Used to lay into the curves
Knees nearly scraping
The pavement as I
Slalomed by
As fast as I could
Coax my ride
Tried not to
Overly slide
Hit the ramp-up fast
Airborne well beyond
The other side
Hit the pavement
Like a landing plane
Bike squirming under me
Continuing the slalom
To its end
Seemed like destiny
Then turn around and
Do it all again

PS; I was 30; always thought I’d be dead by then anyway…; -)

People can do crazy things when they’re hurting, especially when young. My way of handling bad things, up until I was around 50, was to go numb, no emotions, and withdraw inside myself.
Yeah, way back when we thought 30 was as old as the hills…lol. There’s an old country song “Strawberry Wine” sang by Deana Carter where she sings the line: I still remember, when 30 was old. Nice song and video.

Strawberry Wine: good song; I just finished listening to it. The hook sounds familiar, but I don’t remember where I’ve heard it before… I guess you like the steel gurtar, too…
Yes, I was in a dark place at that time, and I did several pretty risky things during that time; didn’t care about caution or safety in the least… But after that, I’ve never allowed myself to get quite that dark again no matter how bad my circumstances got…; -)

I like ALL guitars. I once knew a drummer who made me aware of all that went into playing them, so I have an affinity to them as well.

Half-ass educated. 😊 He pointed out enough that I am now very aware of them when listening to music, fills and such.
