October Morning Ride
pristine blue overhead
desert panorama bathed
in golden sunshine
long shadows lay
across the crowded path
joggers and bikers galore
someone said, “must be training
for an upcoming event”
their huffing, puffing, and sweating
but Occam’s razor might suggest
that it’s just a beautiful morning
enjoying outside’s cool morning air
roadrunner startles me
darts across my path as
pigeons flock overhead
again, RC model boats shatter
the peace of Silverbell lake
as we roll by to El Camino del Cerro
then home again 3 hours gone by
end to end another 23 miles
spinning wheels and pumping thighs
a morning ride to keep me satisfied
mind on beautiful mountains and sky
finally home and sorely tired
let my angers and frustrations die
the slow death of exhaustion
accepting what I cannot change
but tomorrow’s another day

Inevitably, we grow older, but most can still appreciate a beautiful day. Even when it was as hot as hell and the humidity wrapped me in an almost-suffocating embrace, when I used to do my long walks, I was keenly aware of my surroundings and the beauty to be had.

And I love your painting. You most always use bright, cheerful colors that brighten my day. 😊

Ah, you certainly did, Liam. 😎
On a side note, today, after posting a poem with an announcement that I won’t be posting for a while, I made my blog private until I feel up to posting again. If you wish, you can send a request to view it, though like I said, I won’t be adding new material until “whenever”. Or, you have my email….🙃

I have no idea if it’ll be a short or long absence. My heart just isn’t in it right now.
And as I stated, there won’t be anything new on my blog (my last post there was yesterday), unless I make it public again, so no biggie if you don’t request access.

I definitely did … being disappointed that I didn’t get to see your last painting. For some reason, neither my email notification nor wordpress displayed it, and when I tried to see it on your blog, it was closed… so, I’ll try again…; -)

Fortunately, the morning here was fairly cool, mid-60s to low 70s for the ride, and almost no humidity … Tucson … Sonoran Desert…; -)
