Heavy Rain And Cats
two days of off and on
heavy rains
temporary lakes in the yard
front and back
cats hanging out on
the porch’s sheltering sweep
looking for handouts
even more food and water
other than rainwater
they’ll even settle for dry food
cold rain drives snobbery
of the devas away
at least for the feline posse
lazing by the door

I’ve never known a single cat that doesn’t avoid the rain, or any form of water other than the drinking kind. Have you ever tried giving a cat a bath? It’s like tussling with a tiger.

Speaking of tigers, I once saw one swimming in a large pond in its enclosure at the St. Louis Zoo. Does that count?
For our domestic friends, the only way I get close to them with anything other than drinking water is with a hose…; -)
