Blinding Lies — Delusions Of Misinformation

Lies, lies, and more lies … yes, this is another old but relevant one…; -)

Lies and Other Delusions

Sun set, moon rise, sunrise, moon set
Blue sky, too high, we fly, they try.

In windowed spaces, the cut-off view
Proclaims the falsehoods, the blind call true.

While most are living in squalid need,
There’s more than plenty for a privileged few.

Set up laws and social codes, enforced
by thugs, on the backs of those they’ve sold.

What is the lie the cut-off view cedes?
There’s not enough for the masses’ needs.

But, after awhile in cosmic time,
We’ll all be gone, so more’s the crime.

Moon set, sun rise, with or without these
human eyes; sun set, moon rise–no lie.

  1. As it has always been, major wealth is concentrated among the few, while the poor stay poor. I don’t know how to remedy the situation, but I don’t think the redistribution of wealth is the answer. People have a way of not appreciating things they haven’t worked for. One small example—my husband and I used to own quite a few rental dwellings. In almost every case, when a tenant moved out, they left it filthy, and lots of times, with major damage. They didn’t own it, so they didn’t care. Then, my husband and I would spend our weekends and vacations fixing what we could, and hiring out the repairs we couldn’t complete ourselves. Rinse and repeat. Needless to say, it soured me on being a landlord. Socialism isn’t the answer. People resent working hard for their wages, and the slackers get paid the same. The hard workers lose their incentive and become slackers as well. If there’s a way to fix the problem, I don’t know what it is.

    • Thanks for sharing your views, Kate. I appreciate your input. I agree with some of your points.

I was raised during the ‘cold war’ with the prejudices that came with it. Those of us raised then, tend to lump ‘socialism’ into a single definition that modern ‘socialist’ don’t accept anymore. There are as many definitions of socialism as there are people calling themselves by that moniker. What we defined as socialism then was “state capitalism” as opposed to “private capitalism” as practiced here and in Europe. The Chinese practice a form that is half state and half private.

In reference to ‘people hating to work hard for a paycheck’, it just doesn’t jive with my experiences. The system (capitalism – state and/or private) is the problem. It always has been and will only get worse as our empire declines. In order for the profit motive to prevail, there must always be a poor and exploited class. Capitalism always entrenches it and always feeds on itself until there is only a tiny, tiny group that owns all the good land and controls all the resources, wealth, and power. As long as we continue with a capitalist system, that will always be the inevitable result.

Do I have the answer? No, of course not. But there are smater people than me working on it, even as we speak. I only hope our progeny finally figures it out…; -)
