The Losers’ Lament

A study in irony that most of us have probably experienced…

If Only – The Losers’ Lament

if only I was handsome/pretty
       born a financial genius or
                 just with loads of money

I’d be happy, healthy, contented
        instead of frustrated and demented
                  circumvented

fate is stacked against me
it should be plain for all to see
                    life needs equality

if only…

  1. I think it was Abraham Lincoln who said something like, we are about as happy in life as we decide to be. And lord knows how many “if onlys” I’ve said in the long years of my life. I guess I’ll die wishing that things had gone better…the eternal pessimist.
    What about you, Liam?

    • I haven’t heard that, but it certainly sounds reasonable. So, are you an eternal pessimist? As for me, my blog name says it all, CynOp, the cynical optimist, with a maleable optimistic core, encased in hardened and finely honed cynicism to cut through the human-generated missinformation and related ‘BS’… That’s been working pretty well for me so far…; -)

      • If it works for you, keep it up. 🙂
I wouldn’t say I’m entirely a pessimist, but it seems as if Murphy’s Law has ruled a good part of my life. I’ve made so many bad decisions in my life, I couldn’t begin to count them all. But I’m hoping these final years will at least bring me peace. That’s all I ask.
I watch very little news anymore, hardly know what’s going on in the world. That helps.
