January Rose

January Rose

January rose
One of two amid the thorns
Strong scent fills my nose

The thorny bush blooms
In Tucson’s mid-winter chill
Two pink buds unfurl

Pink bud on display
A sweet scent, all pervading
The rosebud opened

      • Don’t underestimate your poetry, Liam. It is NOT gibberish. For the most part, you write “modern poetry”, while I am more drawn to “traditional”, though I do write modern also. If you haven’t done so before, google modern poetry, and you’ll find what you write and how you write it fits there.

      • Thanks, Kate; I’ll look into it. I’ve read my verses in poetry open mics in OH, KY, and Tucson for many years. I’m well aware that most ‘poets’ are unimpressed with my output. But, I don’t write for them, never did … only read because my friends were and I was expected to as well. I write my verses for me because that is one of the few things that I still take pleasure in … I post them on my blog because it’s my blog … The same is true of my paintings and drawings. I’m pleased that you like them, though…; -)

      • I do, very much so. 😊
Most poets have their own unique style, and a lot are biased based on what they choose to write about and how they compose it. I’m not stuck in my own rut. I think it would be boring if all we poets wrote alike. Just like art…though I’m more into realism, I like other forms as well. You have your own unique style, which I happen to like.
Like you, I write and paint for myself. That’s the only way to go and enjoy what you’re doing.
