The Digital Shroud
think of all
thoughts and words
sent into ‘the cloud’
doomed to be forgotten
lost in the digital shroud
when our tech succumbs
inevitably to entropy
lost in Gaia’s
in Terra Firma’s
ultimately finite soul
murdered for progress
for greed
by those who bleed
profits

Ah, the cloud…we’re all there. If you have a computer, tablet, smartphone, or smart tv, some phantom entity knows everything about you. I sometimes wonder if my tv is watching me as I am watching it. And listening. Same for my other smart devices. Even when not turned on, I wonder what they are taking in. I think privacy is now an illusion and has been for years.
I know I ventured into another subject than the one laid out in your poem, but it’s what came to mind when I read it. Go figure…🤷♀️😊

Unfortunately, the ‘surveillance state’ has been with us for a while now, and as tech progresses, it will get far more invasive. That genie is out of the bottle, and I doubt it will ever be put back… at least until the inevitable entropy of the universe takes it down with the rest of it/us/everything… ‘this is the end, my only friend, the end’ –J Morison…; -)

Nothing lasts forever…and it shouldn’t, IMHO.
