Why Worry
by Dire Straits
Baby, I see this world has made you sad
Some people can be bad
The things they do, the things they say
But baby, I’ll wipe away those bitter tears
I’ll chase away those restless fears
And turn your blue skies into grey
Why worry, there should be laughter after pain
There should be sunshine after rain
These things have always been the same
So why worry now?
Why worry now?
Baby, when I get down I turn to you
And you make sense of what I do
I know it isn’t hard to say
But baby, just when this world seems mean and cold
Our love comes shining red and gold
And all the rest is by the way
Why worry, there should be laughter after pain
There should be sunshine after rain
These things have always been the same
So why worry now?
Why worry now?

A nice, mellow song for a cloudy, Sunday morning (for me). Been quite a while since I’ve listened to it.

I’m glad you like it… it’s been a favorite of mine since first hearing it…; -)

I like most of their songs, my favorite being “Walk of Life”.

A feel-good song, one that makes me want to dance…you know, jump around mindlessly like we did in those days. ππΊπ

Agreed, but I’m afraid my ‘jumping around’ days (at least that mode of dancing) pretty much ended before Dire Straits became popular over here…; -)

I think the last time I danced anything other than slow ones–in a public setting–was in my twenties. My sister and her husband, and me and my first husband went to a bar one night. They were having a “twist” dancing contest. My brother-in-law and I entered and won. The prize was a six-pack of beer. πSince I hated beer then (and now), bro-in-law got the prize all to himself.
But over the years, I have been known to flop around like a fish out of water when I hear an old song that I like…in private, of course. π

Yes, I get it… I’ve been known to gyrate a bit when a golden oldie that I have fond memories of comes on, too… but only when I’m alone…; -)

Yes, a white-haired old lady looks ridiculous dancing that way. I’ve watched her in the mirror. π

Well, I try to stay away from mirrors while gyrating…; -)

lol…sad that what inside us isn’t reflected on the outside.

I think that is frequently is, but most don’t have the depth to see it…; -)

You’re more optimistic than I. I feel like an invisible old woman.

I’m sorry to hear that… you are certainly not invisible to me… and I’m sure there are others who ‘see you’ as well…; -)

I don’t worry about it. It happens to all old women…fact of life.

I hear you, but please don’t let it define you…; -)
