Save Our VA Protest – 2/20/26

Sorry, no pictures today… lost my phone/camera… had to go out and buy a new one today… that was an ordeal I hope not to repeat anytime soon…; -| Setting up the new one took me most of the day, so I’m posting this account later than usual… Oh well…; -)

Four of us stood the line at the Ajo Entrance to the Tucson VA this morning from 6:30 am – 8:15 am for the morning shift change.

Responses were similar to last weeks, at somewhere between 75 and 80%. There were only 3 negatives that I could see: one flipped us a ‘bouncing bird’, while the other two screamed at us out their open windows… but couldn’t hear most of the vitriol over the din of rush hour traffic… Oh well. We just laughed and waved…; -)

  1. I’ve never lost my phone but can well imagine what an ordeal it was, Liam. Anymore, it would be about like losing a hand. The younger generation isn’t the only one that feels a smart phone is a necessity. The older I get, the more conscious I’ve become of carrying mine on my person…never know when I might fall and can’t get up. 😀

    • Yes, those little portable computer/camera/phones have made themselves necessities in our ‘moder’ economies… This is the first one I ever lost. On the trip to the VA gate, I had it zipped in a jacket pocket. During our time there, I took several pictures of the rising sun. When we left, I put it back into my pocket but forgot to zip it in. Somewhere along the ride back home, it fell out, and I didn’t notice that it was gone until I was putting my bike away. I went back and walked the route we’d ridden (twice), but no phome… someone picked it up. So I went to our providers store and bought a new one to replace the one I’d lost. That old one was deactivated, and the number reassigned to the new one. All my contacts and anything else I’d stored in the cloud was downloaded into the new one… Even though I lost a few pictures and audio books, I’m only really out some money I wasn’t expecting to spend…; -)

      • And those smart phones do not come cheap. I bought an iPhone 15 Pro Max almost 2 years ago (I think) and I’m embarrassed to tell you what I paid for it. I will say I was close to selling my soul to the devil. 😄
