Loitering

Loitering

Who do you think you are
sitting or standing there
not spending any money?

Where’s your civic pride?
Don’t you know
the economy can’t survive?

People existing without
putting money back into
the money-pool
that raises all ships…

Don’t worry
only those without ships

drown.

Who do you think you are
sitting or standing
not spending money?

And don’t pretend you don’t
have any…

Everybody knows
loiterers are just tight-fisted
anti-social, unpatriotic, villains…

Just ask those with boats…

We all know what floats…

This poem is the result of all the ‘NO LOITERING’ signs I’ve been seeing around town. Apparently, it’s illegal (or at least unseemly) to exist in public without spending money…

  1. I rarely go shopping anymore, though in my younger days, it was much like a pastime. I don’t even window shop. I don’t need any more clothes than I already have, and for a long time have stuck with jeans and a tee of some sort, which seem to never go out of style. Painting supplies and succulents are my weaknesses, but since they are available to order online (like I do my groceries) why bother going out? I would just be a loiter. 😁

    • While I do order things on line too, I prefer to talk to people (cashiers, waitpersons, and other shoppers) and physically examine items I’m considering purchasing whenever possible… My favorite place to buy art supplies is Arizona Art Supply, here in Tucson. They are always helpful and friendly…; -)
