Mid-May Morning Ride On The Tucson Loop
Rode out under another pristine sky
Not a single cloud shading Sol’s eye
The sandy Santa Cruz
Once again, bone dry
The season of yellow
On pause or at an end
A few faded Brittlebush blossoms
Fluttering pale yellow in the gentle breeze
In the High Sonoran ‘dry season’
Between the winter rains and the summer monsoons
Roadrunners dashing side to side
With a couple of skinks and prairie dogs by the by
A few runners and walkers enjoying the day
Only one weenie, in a hurry, nothing to say
A few casual riders rolled by
In no big hurry, a greeting gently waved
Back home with bike put away
Now, a nap and nothing left to say
