A Mid-May Morning Ride On The Tucson Loop
Bright morning sun
40 degrees of the eastern horizon
Mountains in pale silhouette
North, south, and east
The mountains to the west
Bright, jagged and sharp
Facing the sun in the east
Like the ragged incisors
Of some carnivorous feral beast
Four coteries of weinies
Almost always in a big hurry
A few leisure riders
Also claimed the morning air
Walkers and joggers
Were also there
Time to head home
Get back inside
Before the heat of the day
Drains my desire to play
