Save Our VA Tucson Protest – 5/22/26

Four of us anchored the picket line from 6:30-8:15am for the morning shift change at the Ajo gate of the Tucson VA.

Responses were similar to the last few weeks, with about 80-90% definite positives. The others were mostly oblivious or noncommittal.

There were a couple of obvious negatives, though: One woman yelled at us to “get off our property”, as is we taxpayers weren’t already the ‘owners’… One guy with a diesel truck reved his engine, trying to make black smoke in our faces… but too little and too late…; -) Then there was this guy… He started yelling obscenities at us from across the entrance. I just nodded to him. But when it became clear that he was going to cross the entrance and ride through us, I pulled out my phone and turned on the video camera, When he noticed I was recording him, he just rode by without another word… Go figure…
