What do you think is the future of AI?

That’s hard to say. There’s so much ‘information’ out there, speculations up the wazu, between 2001 A Space Odyssey and The Terminator. But there are more mudane speculations too, perhaps even scarier.

some say
artificial intelligence
and some say
alien intelligence

some predict
a Skynet apocalypse
some predict
billions of ai agents

with legal rights
to own property
spend money
and vote

perhaps even
hold office
create, roll out
and enforce policy

some already are
from bank loans
and insurance claims
to humanitarian services eligibility

which scenario is worse
i don’t really have a clue
both of these probabilities make
long-term human survival doubtful

is there still time
to regulate its evolvement
slow its exponential growth
with service to humanity paramount

i guess we’ll just have to
wait and see
hope it’s not already
too late 

but honestly
i’m not hopeful
seeing how technology
has always

taken over
written its own rules
human agents tripping
over themselves to

enable and profit

a lethal combination
