If you had to sum up your life philosophy in one sentence, what would it be?
That also depends on which stage of life I’m thinking about…
In my youth, it was something like (but not exactly): Eat, drink, and be merry for tomorrow ye die.
Later on moving toward middle-age, is was more like: Murphy is alive and well (whatever can possibly go wrong, probably will).
Now, it varies from month to month, but usually what has also followed me from youth, at least in the background: You’re a child of the universe with as much right to be here as the stars and the trees –Max Ehrmann
Then, the rest of time, it’s: life is; be thankful for, and accept it as it is, even as it continues on its evolutionary journey, unfolding just as it should… (again from Max Ehrmann – paraphrased).

It’s funny, but the older we get in life, the less energy we have to fight against it. And yet it’s not life that we’re fighting against, but the inevitability. – Alexandra Grant

Agreed, but even inevitability is not an enemy, just life evolving…; -)

Lately, I feel inevitability is my enemy. The years behind me are far more that the ones ahead of me and there is a sense of panic in that.

Your last paragraph resonates with me…though it’s hard to be thankful right now. But, as my bro-in-law says when I ask how he’s doing, “I’m still above ground.” And he laughs. I need to adopt that attitude.

That sounds like a realistic view, though I think I’m slightly more optimistic…; -)
