This is another one I wrote several years ago, but seems appropriate in the season for reasons untold…; -)
Return of the Snow
snow is coming
in flurries and squalls
in storms and gently falling
clouds of snow-dust swirls,
where each flake, an ice crystal,
glimmers in moonshine,
and under street lights,
headlights, and lighted windows,
casting long shadows,
creates snowscapes — alien,
breathtaking, mysteriously
stark, yet somehow warm,
a home gently shrouded
in glistening shades of
white, blue, black, and gray,
while honeyed shades drip
from windows, streaking
the snow-scape with amber
and gold, yet wintry cold;
snow is coming, surely, you know.
