How do you define success in life?
Depends, in which arena you’re applying the term…
Evolutionary: Passing on your unique DNA to the next generation – in that one, if you have offspring, you have been a ‘success in life’.
Socio-economicly: That one’s a bit harder and totally dependent on where (which eddie in space-time) you happen to have ended up. From my perspective, it means not just surviving but thriving in the social and economic dystopia of our current space-time cul-de-sac (actually, any space-time cul-de-sac).
Spiritually: Acceptance of yourself, with all your faults, virtues, and idiocies, plus the wisdom to not blame anyone or anything else for how you (we) turned out…; -)
I still believe Max Ehrmann’s: …whether we know it or not, the universe is unfolding just as it should… (paraphrased).
One response to “Success!”
All good definitions of success. For me, my greatest success is in raising my only child to be a good man. But I have to confess that I think how one turns out in life is a combination of nature and nurture.
